Resources for Community Organizations

Post Volunteer Opportunities Online:

By posting your organizations contact information and volunteer opportunities students searching through our online database of volunteer opportunities can find your organization.  This is one of the primary way the CVS connects students with community organizations so make sure and fill out the online form.

UW Volunteers in Action Service Day!  Service Sites needed September 9, 2006:

Each fall more than 100 UW students will gather together for an afternoon of service in the Laramie Community.  Students will be in groups of 10-15 and will complete projects ranging from sorting donations to painting offices to reading to senior citizens.  If your organization has a project that could utilize UW student volunteers, please download the Volunteer Day application and return to the CVS by August 16, 2006.

UW Volunteer Fair:

Wyoming Union Breezeway

September 13 and October 4 9:00-2:00 p.m.

The CVS is sponsoring two volunteer fairs in the fall semester: September  13 and October 4.  They are a great opportunity to meet students interested in volunteering and expose them to local organizations.  E The volunteer fair tables are limited to 15 organizations per event, and tables can be reserve on a first come first serve basis.   You can download the registration form here: Registration form

Laramie Volunteer Opportunity Lunchtime Showcase:

Wyoming Union Skylight Lounge

September 13 and October 4 11:45-1:00 p.m.

During each of the volunteer fairs there will be opportunity to get up and on a microphone and share the great volunteer opportunities your organization has to offer UW students.  This is a great chance to let the lunch crowd know a little about your organization.  To register, download the Volunteer Fair application and fill out the second page.  You do not have to attend the fair to be showcased at the lunchtime sessions, but it is recommended.

Serve as an AmeriCorps Service Site:

If you organization is interested in receiving an UW student serving as a part time AmeriCorps member for September 2006-August 2007 then contact the CVS for application information.  Service site must provide a meaningful opportunity for the AmeriCorps member to serve as a volunteer manager, recruiting, training and retaining volunteers for your organization.  ALL ACADEMIC YEAR SERVICE SITES HAVE BEEN SELECTED.  Selection of summer 2007 and 2007-2008 academic year service sites will begin in February.
