Funding
University
of Wyoming was awarded a USDA grant for WIN the Rockies (Wellness
IN the Rockies), an innovative and synergistic four-year health-improvement
project involving Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, their land-grant institutions
and Cooperative Extension Services, each state's medical education program,
and other state organizations and community groups.
The project integrated research with Extension and education at the
community, state, and regional levels.
The source of the funding was the USDAs Initiative
for Future Agriculture and Food Systems, and the process was highly
competitive: Over 1,000 proposals were submitted, only 86 were funded,
and UWs grant (#0004499) was the largest single award given nationwide.
