Identities: Dismantling the Boxes

We invite proposal submissions that deconstruct and interrupt the ways in which proscriptive identities are forced upon members of marginalized groups by society. Specifically we hope that proposals will critically examine the ways in which society forces people to identify with certain membership groups (as evidenced by boxes on census forms) that are socially constructed and that often serve to limit and constrain creative and emancipatory expressions of one's self. Proposals that cut across academic disciplines and that work at the intersections of ethnicity/race, affectional orientation, disability, gender, religion and class are especially welcome.

Deadline for submission: Monday, January 9, 2012

Please Note: All submissions are evaluated by a -blind, peer-review process. We do not offer honorariums or stipends for travel. Registration and Lunch on Thursday are free. You will be notified on the status of your proposal January 31, 2012
