Dr. Tami Benham Deal is Senior Vice Provost for Academic Personnel.

She is a graduate of Indiana University (B.S., M.S., P.E.D.). Tami joined the faculty at U.W. in 1989 as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Kinesiology and Health. She was promoted to Associate Professor in 1995 and to Full Professor in 2012. She was named Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in the College of Health Sciences in 2013.

Tami has published primarily in the areas of youth physical activity and health literacy in 21st century learners. Her work has been funded through a number of organizations and education agencies like the American Heart Association, Council of Chief State School Officers and State Departments of Education. Tami has served on a number of university committees including the University Reappointment, Tenure and Promotion Committee, which she chaired from 2010-11 and 2011-12. She has participated on and chaired numerous national committees and advisory boards on health and physical education. Tami is frequently invited by state education agencies to provide professional development for state employees and school district personnel in the areas of physical activity and health.

Tami was recognized by her alma mater in 2006 with the IU School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Endwright Distinguished Alumni Service Award. More recently she received the 2013 Hall of Fame Award from the Wyoming Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and the Career Achievement Award from the College of Health Sciences at the University of Wyoming.

Tami and her husband, Larry Deal, have two sons, Michael and Gabriel.
