Awards and Opportunities
The Department of Visual Arts offers multiple awards intended to provide professional
development and continuing education opportunities. The Robert Russin Excellence in Figurative Sculpture Award, the Corthel-Hill Assistantship, and the Knadler Technical Proficiency in Art Award provide studio space, faculty mentors, direct financial assistance, and supervised
teaching experience. The Visual Art Student Internship and Exploration Fund Award supports transformative student experiences outside of Wyoming. Discover more details about each award in the FAQ menu.

Visual Arts scholarships help to support full-time students with declared majors in the Department of Visual Arts.
Eligible applicants must be accepted and in good standing with the University of Wyoming and the College of Arts & Science and have a declared major in BA in Studio Art, BA in Art History , BA in Art Education, BFA in Visual Communication Design, or BFA in Studio Art.
If eligible, prior recipients can re-apply for scholarships annually.
What is the application deadline for the Visual Arts Scholarship?
Your application should include recent artwork, a written statement, references, and academic progress. Scholarships are awarded based on a review of submitted material.

The award financially supports sculpture students declaring a Post Undergraduate Assistantship interested in pursuing graduate school or other professional opportunities.
The assistantship supports newly graduated students intending to continue their studies in Studio Art and Art History scholarship.
Awarded to motivate and support students transitioning to life beyond the University of Wyoming undergraduate experience through participation in internships, workshops, and independent research opportunities outside of Wyoming. Watch for the annual call.
The award supports two students per year who demonstrate technical proficiency in their work and would benefit from direct support outside of the normal scholarship application process.
