The UW Art Museum always has free admission.
No, the parking lot at the Centennial Complex is free. However, the lot is monitored,
so be sure to sign in at the vehicle registry at the Visitor Services Desk in order
to avoid receiving a parking ticket.
While both share the same building, the Centennial Complex, they are quite different.
The American Heritage Center (AHC) is an archive and research facility and is a separate
entity from the Art Museum. The Art Museum collects and preserves only fine art objects
and artifacts, with a primary focus on exhibitions, including contemporary art.
Photography in the galleries will be allowed on portable handheld devices only. Photography
intended for reproduction will be permitted by the lender for purposes of promotion
and / or publishing in conjunction with the exhibition only. Flash photography is
prohibited in order to protect the art.
For select exhibitions, a free audio tour is available to museum visitors through
their cell phone. Usually recorded by either a curator or an artist, the tours provide
additional information about the works on view. The tour is accessed by dialing a
phone number from your cell phone. Each work of art has a number assigned to it that
when entered into your phone will start the audio clip. Handouts are available online
as well, so you can listen to the audio tour even if you aren’t at the museum. The
flexibility of using your cell phone allows you to listen to all, some, or none of
the information and in no particular order.
The majority of public programs hosted by the Art Museum are free and you don’t need
a ticket, you can simply show up. Our opening receptions, held in the spring, summer,
and fall, are also free and open to the public.
The Art Museum does not have a list of appraisers or conservators. You may search
for an appraiser or conservator by visiting the websites below.

The Art Museum Exhibitions Review Committee meets quarterly to review all exhibition
proposals that are received. Details about
what to include in your proposal can be found on our website.
The UW Art Museum's terrace is available, along with our lobby, galleries, and resource
room. We do not permit weddings or wedding receptions to be held in the Centennial Complex
or on the building’s grounds. For more information about whether the Art Museum is
the right venue for your event, please contact Brenna Powell at uwmadmin@uwyo.edu or call 307-766-3477.
Since we are unable to accept or hold any artwork prior to Collections Advisory Committee
approval, please do not drop off or send any original artwork. Instead, submit an
image of the object and a close-up image of any signatures with all pertinent information.
More information is available here. As much as we would love to accept all donations, not all gifts fit within our scope
and mission, and the Art Museum and the University of Wyoming have the right to refuse
gifts or bequests.
We currently have a portion of our collection digitized and available to view online
here.

Assistant Curator, Michelle Sunset. Please allow two weeks to receive a response. The more detail you can provide on
the research request form, the better we can respond to your inquiry.
We suggest you start with a simple online search or at your local library. After that,
you can also fill out a
research request form and email it to
curator@uwyo.edu. We may be able to provide additional tips and suggestions for fine art research.
Curators are often traveling or heavily scheduled, so an appointment is absolutely
necessary. When making an appointment, it is important to state the reason for your
call. In many cases, questions can be answered with a little research on your part,
or somewhere on our website. You can also send an email to the front desk (
uwartmus@uwyo.edu) and they can forward your message to the appropriate staff member.
