csu, uw border war game to include wager between art museums

Colorado State University College of Liberal Arts, 13 November, 2024 ‖ The university art museums at Colorado State University and University of Wyoming are joining this year’s Border War game and placing a bet in the form of an art loan. Gregory Allicar Museum of Art and University of Wyoming Art Museum have each wagered an important work from their collection, and the winning museum will get to keep the loser’s artwork on display until the end of the academic year in May.

Branding Iron, September 27, 2024 On Friday, September 20th, the University of Wyoming Art Museum’s fall opening garnered wide attention from the community. The opening began at 5:00PM, where the curators briefly announced what attendees would be able to view throughout the museum. After the short announcement, they served hors d’oeuvres for viewers to snack on before they walked through the museum. To keep the evening going strong, live music was provided for guests after 6:30PM. The reception lasted until 8:00PM, during which the curator commented that it was likely one of the largest turnouts they had seen yet.

On September 14, Jackson Hole Art Auction will be offering "Visionary", a 36” x 48” acrylic on board from 1973, and "At Pasture", a 43½” x 55½” acrylic on canvas from 2006. Both works are done in Garde’s signature figurative abstract style, and individually they exemplify this painter’s restless drive toward experimentation with ways that emphasize the emotional content of his work.
