Bremen graduated from the University of Wyoming in Spring 2023 with his M.S. In Human Development and Family Science. Along with his background in the social sciences, he has a deep love for the applied sciences and loves chatting with his advisees about their coursework. You can often find him during his free time in the EERB's Makerspace. Outside of work, Bremen enjoys exploring the great outdoors of Wyoming with his wife, reading, and playing the fiddle.
Philosophy
From both my personal and educational experiences, I have come to understand that
everyone has a unique background and motivation with their academic career. I present
myself as a confident and empathetic advisor who will encourage students to build
rapport with me so we can collaborate throughout their academic journey. My goal is
to help students make best-informed decisions during advising that works with their
life circumstances and overall career/life goals. Following the practices of Appreciative
Advising, I aim to emphasize student strengths in order to achieve higher rates of
academic success. Using scientific, data-driven methods of goal setting and personal
development, I hope the work I do with students will motivate them to rise to new
challenges and work toward Identity achievement. I aim to provide students with resources
that both UW and Laramie offer in order to help them with managing work, school, health,
and identity growth. My goal is to help students mature into the responsible, successful
adults they want to be. My own education is never done. Thanks to resources like NACADA,
I continue to study and research methods and practices with advising in order to refine
my own practices and perform my job duties to the best of my ability.
