Proximity Detector
Last Updated: 7/24/18
This project is a simple modification of the LightGauge project. Instead of measuring light, we measure the ambient voltage field on pin A5 and use it to detect if someone is too close to our Arduino.
A5 is used as a “floating input”, but unfortunately it is very noisy. The usual solution is to use some sort of statistical averaging to reduce noise in sensor readings. This is often called “filtering”.
The goal of this quick project is to experiment with two types of averaging, and see the effect on noise reduction.

The presentation material and the code can be downloaded at Proximity Detector.
