Graduate Scholarships

The University of Wyoming College of Education supports our students by offering a number of scholarships based on merit, financial need, or to specific student populations. Be sure to file your FAFSA to be considered for financial need based awards! The application period begins at the start of the spring semester, but specific deadlines for each scholarship differ. Dr. Joseph I. Stepans Excellence in Education Scholarship
  • Graduate student in good academic standing in the College of Education
  • Including graduate students in the Science and Mathematics Teaching Center

Elnora Brooks Memorial Scholarship
  • Active Wyoming teacher returning for additional study in the College of Education
  • Demonstrates financial need
  • History of high-level academic achievement
  • Commitment to teaching

Gibson Scholarship
  • Graduate student in good academic standing in the College of Education
  • Demonstrates financial need
  • History of high-level academic achievement

Gregory Family Trust Education Fund
  • Graduate student in good academic standing in the College of Education
  • Demonstrates financial need
  • History of high-level academic achievement

John K. Corbett Memorial Scholarship
  • Graduate student in good academic standing in the College of Education
  • Demonstrates financial need
  • History of high-level academic achievement
  • Commitment to teaching
  • Demonstrates competencies in written communication
  • Preference to graduates of Laramie High School

Leona S. and Jeanette Heptner Scholarship
  • Graduate student in good academic standing in the College of Education
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Preference to residents of Campbell County, Wyoming; then Wyoming; then out-of-state

Ray D. Kennedy College of Education Scholarship
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • The scholarship recipient is not required to be a resident of Wyoming, but the award will cover up to the cost of in-state tuition and fees at the time of the award

 

Counseling Program

Arden White Student Excellence Scholarship
  • Graduate student in good academic standing in the College of Education
  • Student in Counselor Education and Supervision program
  • Preference to students interested in pursuing counselor education as a profession

Evelyn Milam Scholarship
  • Graduate student in good academic standing in counseling program
  • Deserving and/or promising Master's student

Lyle L. Miller Counselor Education Fellowship
  • Graduate student in good academic standing in Counselor Education and Supervision program
  • Working on a research assignment with the guidance of a department faculty member

Patricia B. Ferris-Hawley Scholarship
  • Master's student in good academic standing in counseling  program
  • Non-traditional, female student

Relaxation Foundation Donald R. Austin Student Scholarship Fund
  • Graduate student enrolled in one of the counseling or special education program
  • Show an interest in and a passion for implementing relaxation techniques and/or stress management techniques within an educational setting

 

Educational Leadership Program

Scholarship Name Award Criteria
Dr. L. Dean Sorenson Memorial Scholarship
  • Graduate student in good academic standing in the Educational Leadership program working towards the completion of a master’s degree or certificate in K-12 school administration.
  • Demonstrates financial need.
  • Preference will be given to individuals who have at least 3 years teaching experience.

Ivan Willey Scholarship
  • Graduate student in good academic standing in Educational Leadership program
  • Preference to Wyoming residence

Maurice Wear Scholarship
  • Graduate student in good academic standing in Educational Leadership program
  • Demonstrates financial need
  • Preference to Wyoming residence

Russell I. Hammond Scholarship
  • Graduate student in good academic standing in Educational Leadership program
  • Demonstrates financial need

William G. Berube Scholarship
  • Graduate student in good academic standing in Educational Leadership program
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities

 

Higher Education Administration Program

Clarence Jayne Memorial Scholarship
  • Graduate student in good academic standing in Higher Education Administration or Learning, Design and Technology program
  • Demonstrates commitment to furthering the educational resources available to adult learners
  • Demonstrates financial need
  • Does not habitually use tobacco or alcohol products

Kercher Family Scholarship in Education Scholarship
  • Graduate student in good academic standing in Higher Education Administration or Learning, Design and Technology program
  • Demonstrates financial need
  • Non-traditional student

  • Graduate student in good academic standing in Higher Education Administration or Learning, Design and Technology program

  • Preference to graduates of Idaho or Wyoming high schools

Donald and Dorothy Bird Scholarship
  • Graduate student in good academic standing in Special Education program
  • Seeking Special Education certification through a Master’s degree
  • Currently practicing teacher

Eleanor R. "Rusty" Rowland Memorial Scholarship
  • Graduate student in good academic standing in Special Education program
  • Completed all coursework

Relaxation Foundation Donald R. Austin Student Scholarship Fund
  • Graduate student enrolled in one of the counseling or special education program

Silver Symbol Circle of Kings Scholarship
  • Graduate student in good academic standing in Special Education program
