Scholarships in the College of Education

The College of Education proudly awards scholarships undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates who are inservice teachers. Scholarships are a great way to reduce the cost of earning your degree and gain additional financial support on your way to becoming a teacher in Wyoming.

Undergraduate Scholarships

Applications for over forty College of Education scholarships are no longer required, with the exception of the Leona S. and Jeanette Heptner Scholarship. After the fall semester add/drop deadline, the Office of Student Financial Aid provides the College of Education Scholarship Committee with reports containing the names of new and returning teacher education majors who meet the awarding criteria, as set forth by donors. We strongly recommend that you complete the FAFSA in order to establish financial need, as stipulated by scholarship criteria. This information is taken into consideration when the reports are generated. Students who will be awarded College of Education Scholarships are notified by letter.

*Please note that the college is not directly involved in determining eligibility for Hathaway Scholarships.

Leona S. and Jeanette Heptner Scholarship
The Heptner Scholarship is awarded to elementary education majors who have completed at least two years of undergraduate study or graduate students. in the College of Education. Financial need is a consideration (please note: FAFSA is REQUIRED). Preference is given first to residents of Campbell County,  then Wyoming residents from outside of Campbell County, and finally out-of-state students. Scholarship amounts vary and are awarded each spring for the following academic year. Submission of application materials is via UW's WyoScholarships system. NOTE: Because this is a FAFSA-driven, needs-based scholarship, students will not see the Heptner Scholarship in the WyoScholarships system until early March, when federal needs guidelines are issued. Applications must be submitted to WyoScholarships by 5 p.m. Friday, March 25. For details on required application elements visit the Heptner description page.
