Biography
Roberts’ area of expertise is international and comparative education, with a particular
focus on the ideologies shaping the globalization and internationalization of academic
communities worldwide. Her work examines how educational systems intersect across
cultural, political, and linguistic contexts, and how these intersections inform teaching,
learning, and research on a global scale.
As an educator, Roberts has dedicated many years to teaching both children and adults
from diverse regions of the world. Her practice is grounded in a commitment to intercultural
understanding, a global mindset, and equitable access to education. She actively seeks
opportunities to design and facilitate courses and projects for University of Wyoming
students that engage critically with global events and the complex challenges of the
contemporary era, fostering both academic inquiry and practical application.
Roberts brings extensive international experience to her work, having lived, taught,
and conducted field research in Myanmar, Thailand, Taiwan, Spain, Guatemala, Costa
Rica, and the United States. Her global engagement includes the completion of two
11-month Fulbright Research-Teaching Awards in Taiwan and Myanmar, leadership of two
Fulbright-Hays projects in Costa Rica, and service as a U.S. State Department Fellow
at Mandalay University in Mandalay, Myanmar. These experiences have deeply informed
her scholarship and pedagogy, strengthening her commitment to cross-cultural collaboration
and educational innovation.
Her professional philosophy is reflected in her guiding principle: Be the change you want to see in the world, a quote attributed to Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, which continues to shape her approach
to teaching, research, and global engagement.
