Biography

Dr. Leslie S. Rush serves as Wyoming Excellence Chair in Literacy Education in the College of Education at the University of Wyoming. Leslie taught secondary school English in Uganda, East Africa; California; and Texas. She received a bachelor’s degree in History and English from East Texas State University; a master’s degree in Reading Education from Texas A&M University-Commerce, and a doctorate in Reading Education from the University of Georgia. A past co-editor of English Education, Leslie has published her scholarly work, which focuses on disciplinary literacy in English Language Arts, in journals such as Harvard Educational ReviewJournal of Literacy ResearchJournal of Adolescent & Adult LiteracyJournal of College Reading and Learning, and Literacy Research and Instruction. She is currently engaged in a variety of professional development, consulting, and other outreach work with school districts and teachers in Wyoming, including focusing on disciplinary literacy, vocabulary, and writing instruction.
