The Office of Community Engagement (OCE), formerly the Office of Engagement and Outreach, was originally established in 2018, and recently reestablished in 2023 to elevate and expand UW's mission of community engagement, including our land-grant mission of service to the state. OCE provides institutional leadership to assist UW's divisions in shaping, supporting, and advancing the university's goals for community relationships via engagement and outreach.
We look forward to furthering our work across the university and the State of Wyoming to cultivate, catalog, and celebrate mutually beneficial partnerships that enhance the well-being of our citizens and communities. "Pardon our dust" as we rebuild a website that centralizes engagement resources for citizens across Wyoming, as well as UW faculty, staff, and students. In the meantime, please reach out for assistance with community engagement and outreach.

COMMUNITY ENGAGED FACULTY INSTITUTE
The Community Engaged Faculty Institute (CEFI) supports a cohort of UW faculty fellows to develop service-learning opportunities for UW students by creating or redesigning a service-learning/community-engaged course.
CEFI is designed to advance UW strategic goals for institutional excellence including rewarding teaching excellence, enhancing student success, and strengthening relationships with community partners.
Nine faculty members from a wide range of disciplines were selected as fellows for the 2023-24 cohort. Fellows participated in six sessions that addressed various components of successfully developing a service-learning course and presented their plans for implementation in May.

CEFI is a program coordinated in partnership between: The Office of Engagement and Outreach; Service, Leadership, Community Engagement Office; the Ellbogen Center for Teaching and Learning; and the Wallop Civic Engagement Program and Stewart Family Enrichment Fund within the School of Politics, Public Affairs & International Studies.

One of the many ways UW connects with the greater community is through the UWYO Magazine. The issue below, For the People: UW Touches Every Corner of the State, shares the power of relationships between the university and Wyoming communities. This issue showcases a range of impactful individuals and innovative statewide initiatives across industries and disciplines -- from arts, agriculture, and business to education, energy, and tourism. Innovation and service are hallmarks of the great work by people at UW and across the state.

The University of Wyoming’s commitment to community engagement has earned recognition from the Carnegie Foundation. In 2024, UW received the Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement, acknowledging the institution's extensive outreach efforts throughout the state. Universities receive this designation only following a rigorous evaluation and documentation of their community engagement endeavors. This designation serves as a catalyst for the university to further refine its strategic approach to community engagement and expand upon existing initiatives.
