Grasshoppers of Wyoming and the West

Entomology

Aeoloplides nsp.

Aeoloplides nsp.

Aeoloplides nsp. was collected at several locations in the Great Divide Basin and between Baggs and Point of Rocks. It was collected on greasewood where it hides among the tangled branches. It differs from A. turnbulli by having shorter wings, small body size, and dark coloring. It appears to be most closely related to A. turnbulli and may represent a undescribed species or subspecies. Adults were collected in late August.
