Melanoplus dawsoni is a montane grasshopper that is common in dry forest openings. Isolated populations
can be found along dry weedy stream beds at lower elevations. Eggs overwinter in the
soil. Adults are most common in August. It is reported as a mixed feeder preferring
forbs. Its economic significance is not known in Wyoming.
