Melanoplus huroni

Melanoplus huroni is an uncommon grasshopper found in the Big Horn Mountains and the Black Hills in Wyoming. Its range extends east to Michigan. It is found in grassy forest opening at moderate elevations. Specimens from the Big Horn Mountains are consistently larger than those from the Black Hills. Its life cycle is not known in Wyoming but adults are present in August. This species' food habits are not well known. It causes no economic damage in Wyoming. Ref: Helfer 1963.
