Grasshoppers of Wyoming and the West
Entomology
Melanoplus marshalli (Thomas)

Melanoplus marshalli has only been collected a few times in Wyoming. On this survey several specimens
were collected on Deadline Ridge at 10,000 feet in elevation in Sublette County. They
occur on other high mountains in southwest Wyoming. They are very similar in appearance
to M. oregonensis. Our specimens show more red on the femur and a tinge of blue on the tibia, but these
characteristics are not consistent. Adults were collected August 10, 1990. Because
of its limited distribution it causes no economic damage in Wyoming.
