Pallidwinged Grasshopper
Trimerotropis pallidipennis (Burmeister)
Trimerotropis pallidipennis, the pallidwinged grasshopper, is common in the dry grasslands and deserts of Wyoming.
It becomes rare in the mixedgrass prairies of the northeast. This grasshopper prefers
sites with barren ground such as alkaline depressions, sagebrush deserts, and roadsides.
In Wyoming eggs overwinter in the soil, with adults found from late June until early
September. It is a mixed feeder but may prefer grasses. It is rarely abundant enough
to damage rangelands except in conjunction with other grasshoppers.
