FAST Student Internships

OCE Spotlight
Community Engagement Profile: Jenny Ingwerson-Niemann
Jennifer (Jenny) Ingwerson-Niemann is an Equine lecturer in the Department of Animal
Science at the University of Wyoming. She has a passion for connecting her UW students
with hands-on service-learning opportunities with local community partners in the
equine industry. In 2023-24, Jenny completed the UW Community Engaged Faculty Institute.
In fall 2024, she applied her learning by redesigning a capstone course (ANSC 4250)
for students who want to pursue a career in the equine industry with a focus on equine
management. Students completed service-learning projects with community partners including
reflection and presentations. Community partners included veterinary clinics (Alpine
Animal Hospital in Laramie and Sturgis Veterinary Hospital and Equine Center in South
Dakota), the Center for Racehorse Retraining in Chugwater, Rodeo Ranch in Cheyenne,
Rocky Mountain HorseDream in Laramie and the Cliff and Martha Hansen Teaching Arena.
