FCS Student Organizations
American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) is the only national organization representing family and consumer sciences professionals
across practice areas and content specializations.
Fashion Club at UW is an RSO that provides professional development and service opportunities related
to all aspects of the fashion industry, including apparel design, product development,
merchandising and textiles. This club is open to any UW student regardless of major.
Phi Upsilon Omicron is a national honor society in home economics/family and consumer sciences. Potential
members are invited to membership based on academic excellence and leadership.
Student Dietetic Association (SDA) is a recognized student organization at UW. The professional benefits include: Leadership
opportunities; volunteer experience in nutrition related presentations and projects;
networking with Registered Dietitians in Wyoming; opportunities to attend dietetic
conferences; eligibility for membership in the national organization of the American
Dietetic Association.
Student Gerontology Association (SGA) offers opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to socialize, network
with professionals in the field of aging, gain knowledge in the area of gerontology,
explore career opportunities and volunteer to make our community stronger and more
age-friendly. All students at UW with an interest in issues relating to aging are
welcome to join.
College Honoraries
Alpha Zeta is a national honorary for students in agriculture who demonstrate academic excellence,
character, and leadership. Applications for membership are sent to eligible students.
Gamma Sigma Delta is a national society open to students in agriculture. Potential members are invited
to membership based upon academic excellence.
