Workshops and Trainings

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life is proud to offer a number of workshops and trainings to our chapters in order to provide continues education, development, and support. While there are some programs offered on a continual basis, other programs can be developed upon request. Some of the more recent programs include:

Safe Social Event Hosting

As social organizations, our chapters are able to host events with alcohol. Before chapters may host events with alcohol each semester, they are required to participate in this 90-minute overview on how to effectively and safely host an event. This session reviews sections of FIPG and chapter Risk Management policies and makes direct application to chapter procedures and practices. In addition to reviewing and better understanding how to implement safe practices, this session also reviews emergency procedures and university expectations and policies.

New Member Education

This interactive session allows the newest members of the community to interact with one another while also providing an overview of their future in the FSL community. Hosted by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life in conjunction with Vice Presidents of Education from both the Panhellenic and Interfraternity Council, attendees will leave with new connections, a better understanding of behavioral expectations for the community, how to recognize and report hazing practices and build a personal development goal.

New Member Educator Training

In order to ensure a safe campus environment, New Member Educators are brought together each semester to review university expectations regarding their chapter’s new member program. Participants will review the university anti-hazing policy while learning how to be a more effective facilitator during organization education sessions.
