UW Model Arab League Stands Out at Nationals

After an eventful trip to Washington, DC in early April, the UW Model Arab League team has returned to Laramie from Nationals with several awards and valuable experiences for the 16 students who represented Palestine.

Students were able to engage in student diplomacy, meet with UW alumni in DC, and even had the chance to visit State Department Headquarters for a discussion on global counter-narcotics, as well as a visit to the Tunisian Embassy to the US for a meeting with the ambassador.

At this year's competition, Wyoming came third out of over twenty universities and colleges from across the nation. Student awards are listed below:

 

Outstanding Awards

• Council on Palestinian Affairs: Salah-Eddine Oukhssane, Hannah Moumen
• Council on Political Affairs: Sophia Gomelsky, Marina Scholten
• Council on Environmental Affairs: Arielle Coleman, Ven Meester

Distinguished Awards

• Council of Arab Heads of State: Andrew Bishop, Nathan Hamilton
• Special Council on Technology & Development: Carson Krueger, Aliye Carey

Superior Awards

• Council on Social Affairs: Aseel Abu Tarboush, Rowan Kelly

 

Also at this year's competition, UW's country assignment for next year was revealed as Yemen.
