Sustainability Minor

Undergraduate Minor


Communities, organizations, and individuals are looking for ways to live and operate more sustainability; to consume fewer nonrenewable resources and create less waste; to create systems that support people to be prosperous, healthy, and productive; and to work toward a better, more equitable world for future generations. Add the minor in Sustainability to any undergraduate degree program at the University of Wyoming to learn how to understand, analyze, and implement sustainable solutions.

The Sustainability minor from the Haub School emphasizes development of essential skills:

  • Collaborative problem-solving

Foundations of sustainability, ethics, Campus Sustainability capstone - where you’ll design and implement a real project to enhance sustainability at UW or the surrounding community—and a custom set of elective courses on sustainable design, energy, food systems and more.

Our economy and our world are changing rapidly. Many of the jobs, career paths, and professional opportunities you could take after you graduate might not even exist yet! The Haub School will prepare you to be a nimble, creative, and critical thinker, building the skills, knowledge, and tools you can apply to wherever you want to forge a path in the future.

Sustainability Minor

Career opportunities exist in private business like textiles and manufacturing organizations, corporations, and energy companies, educational and research organizations like universities, and labs; non-profits that specialize in food justice, science communication, public engagement, and climate change mitigation and adaptation, and government programs that manage and support sustainability initiatives and research.

Alumni Highlight

 

Caitlin McLennan

Caitlin McLennan finished her undergrad at UW in 2020, studying Environment & Natural Resources (ENR) and Political Science, with a minor in Sustainability. After finishing her master's at Tufts University this spring, Caitlin is now the Sustainability Coordinator at Utah State University working to ensure sustainability permeates the entire campus. Whether working with faculty to include sustainability in academics, to managing greenhouse gas reduction and net zero initiatives, Caitlin is there, ready to be an activist in the workplace.
