For students seeking an introduction to the physical, biological, and human components of the Earth system through data collection, statistical analysis, information technology, and modeling.
This is an interdisciplinary environmental science degree focusing on the scientific methods, content, and tools you’ll need to succeed in an interconnected world.
By choosing to major in Environment & Natural Resources (ENR), you’ll work with students from across campus to learn critical thinking and collaborative problem solving for natural resource challenges. ENR understanding is relevant to every field of study—from biology to business, from public health to political science, from art to anthropology, and many more.
Two Options
Earn a bachelor of science in Environment & Natural Resources. This degree requires the addition of a concurrent major of your choosing, which can be any undergraduate degree program UW offers.
Or, add this concurrent major to any undergraduate degree program at UW.
The BS in Outdoor Recreation & Tourism Management (ORTM) is designed for students who want to connect people to the outdoors in one of the West’s fastest-growing industries. You’ll gain understanding of business, people and culture, environment and natural resources, recreation, and tourism in the classroom and outside.
Students select a Concentration as an area of specialization:
- Business & Hospitality Management
- Cultural & International Tourism
- Outdoor Recreation Leadership
- Management of Recreation Resources
Work with other students in the field and the classroom to problem solve, discuss ethics, develop outdoor skills, and practice decision making. Gain outdoor skills and earn certifications: Wilderness First Responder & CPR, Leave No Trace, and Behavioral First Responder.
Gain a comprehensive understanding of sustainability principles and practices. Address environmental, social, and economic challenges and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Integrate ecological, political, and cultural approaches to develop global perspectives and address complex environmental challenges.
