At our core, the goal is to acknowledge, act on, and affect maternal morbidity and mortality in Wyoming. To do this, we mean to bring innovations into practice that will improve maternal health.
Direct Clinical Care
Improving access to prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum services; strengthening mental and behavioral health support during and after pregnancy; and enhancing trust and quality across Wyoming’s maternal health system.
Workforce Training
Expanding provider and health-support worker knowledge of maternal health issues, and growing the number and types of maternal health providers across the state.

Convenes Quarterly
A community of researchers, educators, and students from any college across the University of Wyoming campus who are interested in maternal and child health.
Wyoming Lactation Workforce Program
The Rural Health Institute is partnering with the University of California San Diego Division of Extended Studies to certify more Lactation Consultants in Wyoming. Through this program, the Rural Health Institute will cover the full cost of the USCD Pathway 2 lactation education program, plus the cost of the IBLCE certification exam.
