The Opportunity
Through the Wyoming Lactation Workforce Program, the Rural Health Institute will cover the full cost of the UCSD Pathway 2 lactation education program, which is an accessible route for qualified candidates such as nurses and other allied health professionals to complete the didactic and clinical hours required to sit for the IBLCE exam required for IBCLC certification, plus the cost of the IBLCE certification exam itself.
Each year for the next three years, a small cohort of Wyoming residents will be selected to receive this tuition assistance, with a preference for candidates committed to practicing in underserved or frontier areas of Wyoming after certification. By the program's conclusion, new IBCLCs will be trained and ready to serve communities across the state.

HOW TO APPLY
To apply for the program, complete the form linked below and make sure to send your supporting materials (CV/resume and recommendation letter) via email to MaternalHealth@uwyo.edu , subject line: WY Lactation Program Application + Your Last Name. Make sure you meet the eligibility requirements and read the application form before submitting supporting materials.
Eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be Wyoming residents at the time of application
- Applicants must meet (or meet by the time of the start of the program) the Pathway 2 General Education requirements https://extendedstudies.ucsd.edu/certificates/lactation-consultant-pathway-2
- Applicants must agree to apply separately to the UCSD Pathway 2 program and obtain admission
- If accepted, applicants must complete the 45-hour lactation education prerequisite (if needed). Costs will be covered under this tuition assistance program.
Applications open on September 21. All applications are due November 13.

*Being selected for the Wyoming Lactation Workforce Program does not guarantee acceptance into the UCSD Pathway 2 program. Once notified, selected individuals must complete and submit their own official application, transcripts, and prerequisites directly to UCSD, and are subject to UCSD's own admissions review.
