Mouse Prevention Handout for Building Occupants
This handout is available for distribution to students, staff and other people who use the facilities.
Pest Prevention Strategies Spreadsheet
Pest problems can be prevented through sanitation, exclusion and a reduction of pest harborage.
Pest Sighting Report Sheets can be made available to staff and reported to the IPM Coordinator as soon as a pest is sighted.
Building Inspection/Monitoring Data Sheet
This form may be used for inspection or monitoring for pests and problems in certain areas of facilities.
List the weeds and any underlying reason for the problems on the weed scouting data sheet.
Trap monitoring sheets record pests caught and identify seasonal risk factors and areas with a high frequency of problems.
In addition to recording landscape history on data sheets for each location, digital images of patterns or problems in the landscape can also be helpful for future reference.
Pesticide Application Notification
The Wyoming statute 35-7-375 requires notice be provided to students, teachers and staff not less than 72 hours before application and this information be retained by the district for 2 years.Email records of the 72 hour notice may be one way of retaining this information.
The Wyoming statute 35-7-375 requires that not less than twelve (12) hours before application of pesticides within school buildings, signs shall be posted at main entrances to school buildings and at the entrances to the specific application area within buildings. If pesticide application is made outdoors to any area adjacent to a school building or on property used by the district for student activities or playgrounds, signs shall be posted immediately adjacent to the treated area and at the entrance to the district property. The signs shall remain posted for seventy-two (72) hours.
Records are best kept on a standard form to be sure all the necessary data is logged every time. The Pest Control Application Form includes the types of information that needs to be recorded for each application. This form is useful to record pest control activities, not only applications. Since this form is inclusive, only the items that apply to the situation need to be recorded.
This School IPM policy template can be used as it is or adapted for the individual location.
