Jim D. Verley, Ph.D., received his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis
in Science Education from the University of Wyoming. His doctoral research was a close
examination of the perceptions of Physics graduate students on the value of teaching.
He also served for nearly four years as the Educational Consultant and Science Content
Specialist for the Wyoming Department of Education. He served with committees responsible
for development of the framework for the Next Generation National Science Standards
(NGSS) and is interested in the reexamination of creativity in the classroom and cross
disciplinary curricular activities at all levels.
He has taught classes from public school science/math/language arts to graduate level courses in science education. His service to UW began in 1989 where he served as the Director of Cultural Outreach at the University of Wyoming, coordinating and delivering high level programming to public schools throughout the state. Concurrently, he was coordinator for the Cultural Programs Concert Series, consider to be one of the finest in the Western United States.
