Student Employment Opportunities
Campus Recreation is one of the largest student employers on campus. We hire individuals who are people-oriented, friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic, have good customer service skills and flexible schedules. Current openings and all application materials can be obtained by searching the Job Listings through the Human Resources Department. Search for the specific position you are interested in. We also hire work study positions; if you qualify for Federal Work Study, apply to open Campus Recreation Work Study Positions.
Campus Recreation employs students in the following areas:
Aquatics
Lifeguards are nationally certified through the American Red Cross; previous experience
                                 is highly encouraged. Lifeguards oversee the safety and operations of the Half Acre
                                 Pool for drop-in swim, and Corbett Pool for additional Campus Recreation programming.
                                 Lifeguard Certification courses are offered as needed to certify or re-certify any
                                 staff.

Fitness Programs
Group Fitness Instructors complete the mentorship training program along with receiving
                                 certification or participation in class specific workshops to further their instructor
                                 experience and knowledge. Group Fitness encompasses a wide variety of formats including
                                 cycle, boot camp, yoga, and Zumba.
Personal Trainers are all nationally certified and in pursuit of their Kinesiology
                                 or Health Promotion degrees. Personal Trainers work one-on-one or in buddy training
                                 sessions to help clients reach their fitness goals.

Rec Sports
The UW Rec Sports Program houses the Intramural and Club Sport programs. Staff in
                                 these areas are offered paid work opportunities as officials, supervisors and office
                                 assistants. Previous experience as an official is desired, but not required. Training
                                 clinics are offered before the start of each sport to teach the required skills to
                                 all staff. None of these employment opportunities prevents participation on an Intramural
                                 or Club Sport team.

Open Recreation
The Open Recreation student staff is a vital part of Campus Recreation. Open Rec student
                                 employees consist of check-in and customer service staff in the Business Office; as
                                 well as Facility Employees, Facility Rovers and Building Supervisors that clean and
                                 check-out equipment throughout the facility. There are at least 5 student employees
                                 on staff every hour when the facility is open. We take great pride in the customer
                                 experience at Half Acre.

Outdoor Program
The Outdoor Program hires students as Office Staff, Bike and Ski Technicians, Climbing
                                 Wall Staff, and qualified Field Staff to lead our outdoor activities. Prior knowledge
                                 and skills are not required for all positions, but is preferred.

Wellness Center
The Wellness Center offers internships, employment and work-study opportunities. We
                                 also have unpaid internship positions related to health promotion, marketing, graphic
                                 design, financial wellness, Wellness Ambassadors, and Exercise is Medicine available
                                 every semester. Gain important professional experience and get credit for it. Email
