Don't have time to join a formal organization or committee? That's OK! Here are a few ways that you can still promote health and wellness!
Learn about health topics that interest you. One way of doing this includes attending in-person or online classes and trainings. Learn about some of the health and wellness-focused workshops and trainings that you can attend.
If you see something, say something! If someone around you seems to be having a difficult time, or is in a potentially risky situation, intervene. This could mean asking them if they are ok, asking them how you can help, cutting someone off if they've had too much to drink, telling an administrator or authority figure that you are concerned about the person, or even calling 911. Don't just assume that someone else will take care of them, or that they will be ok on their own. Want to improve your intervention skills? Gatekeepers, Green Dot at UW and Step Up! offer trainings to help improve your intervention skills that can be used across many different settings.
Be a role model for holistic health. We all know that nobody is perfect especially in every dimension of wellness all the time. Try to make healthy and positive choices to help yourself live a healthy lifestyle. You may inspire others to do so as well! Feel free to share health and wellness resources (including those on this page) and encourage people to use them!
