COMMITMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

Students may receive University Commitment and other classification-based scholarships through the University of Wyoming. For more information, please visit the UW scholarship webpage here.

NIELSON TEXTBOOK SCHOLARSHIPS

The Nielson Textbook Scholarship is available each semester to all declared ERMD majors. Awards are based on cumulative GPA and enrolled credit hours. Both first-time and continuing students are eligible to apply.

NIELSON SUMMER SESSION SCHOLARSHIPS

ERMD students who are enrolled in required courses for their degree program during the summer session may have their tuition costs covered through a Nielson Summer Session Scholarship.

Experiential Learning Funds: education beyond the classroom

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, students have opportunities to learn directly in the field. The funds listed below are dedicated to experiential learning, supporting travel and hands-on experiences that allow students to engage with the energy industry on the ground during their acedenic careers.

Supports student travel to the Idaho National Laboratory and covers expenses related to energy conferences with a focus on nuclear technologies.

Supports field trips, industry site visits, and participation in professional events such as the NAPE Expo.

Covers student success programs, such as the Nielson Textbook and Nielson Summer Session Scholarsips, and funding for SER Student Ambassadors, including resources for their experiential learning and outreach efforts. In addition, the fund supports other faculty, research, and outreach purposes.

Provides funding for student field trips, major conference attendance (including the NAPE Expo), and visits to national energy research facilities like the Idaho National Laboratory.

Covers a wide range of industry-focused experiential learning, including field excursions, NAPE Expo attendance, and participation in events hosted by the Wyoming Association of Professional Landmen (WAPL) and Denver Association of Professional Landmen (DAPL).

Supports hands-on, career-focused experiences through the SER Mentorship Program—including industry mentor shadow days, mentorship meetings, and professional development opportunities—as well as student participation in NAPE and other industry conferences through registration, travel, and lodging assistance. Funds also offset costs associated with the Energy Field Studies course and industry site visits, including lodging, required PPE, meals, and other travel-related expenses.

Students are required to submit thank-you notes for all scholarships in recognition of our generous donors, whose support enhances students’ education and helps offset the cost of attendance. Most thank-you notes may be submitted through the WyoScholarships portal. Thank-you notes for Nielson scholarships should be submitted directly to the SER Academic Program at SERAcad@uwyo.edu.
