Bio
Clare brings a background in non-formal science education instruction, coordination,
and research (including implications of non-formal programs for learning and supporting
the Next Generation Science Standards). She leveraged the standards-based elements
of this research into work with the SMTC's professional development team as a Staff Outreach Science Educator. Now, she now supports teachers around Wyoming in understanding and implementing the Wyoming
State Science Content and Performance Standards (based on the Next Generation Science
Standards). She has been working closely with the standards and the framework that
supports them since 2017.
Role: Staff Outreach Educators serve on the SMTC’s professional learning teams that in turn
serve Wyoming’s K-12 schools and teachers. Their roles and responsibilities include
planning and carrying out professional learning sessions for district and open enrollment
workshops, coordinating travel and programming logistics, seeking grants and contracts,
supporting with grant and contract reporting, disseminating work in publications and
conference presentations, and fostering school district, University, teacher, and
community partner relationships. This role is highly collaborative with other professional
learning team members, and supports the SMTC’s mission of supporting K-20 excellence
in science and mathematics education.
