Clare brings a background in non-formal science education instruction, coordination,
and research. She held lead instructor and day program coordination positions at Teton
Science Schools, which built into her graduate research on various approaches to non-formal
(field-based, structured) science learning and their implications for learning and
supporting the Next Generation Science Standards. During graduate school, she leveraged
the standards-based elements of this work into work with the SMTC's professional development
team. Upon graduating, Clare joined the PD team to support teachers around Wyoming
in understanding and implementing the Wyoming State Science Content and Performance
Standards (based on the Next Generation Science Standards). She has been working closely
with the standards and the framework that supports them since 2017.
