Dr. Haoming Ma is a tenure-track Assistant Professor jointly appointed in the School of Computing and the Department of Energy and Petroleum Engineering at the University of Wyoming. Prior to his faculty appointment, he is a Research Scientist at the University of Wyoming’s School of Energy Resources, Hydrogen Energy Research Center from 2025 to 2026. Before joining the University of Wyoming, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin from 2023 to 2025.
Dr. Ma’s research focuses on developing AI-enabled geo-energy system modeling and analysis frameworks that integrate artificial intelligence, multiscale remote sensing, physics-based simulation, techno-economic analysis, and life-cycle assessment. His research has applications across:

- Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS)
- Methane emissions across oil and gas supply chains
- Enhanced geothermal systems
- Hydrogen supply chain modeling and analysis
Through this interdisciplinary research, Dr. Ma develops technical, socioeconomic, and policy insights to support geo-energy infrastructure planning, technology deployment, and investment decision-making, with the broader goal of advancing reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy systems.
