We invite you to help support the mission of the Division of Social Work (DOSW) in educating and preparing students to become effective, ethical, and competent social workers by providing quality and diverse learning opportunities for the betterment of the human condition within the state of Wyoming, nationally, and internationally.
Please take a moment to learn more about the exciting initiatives the DOSW provides to help meet the learning needs of our students and prepare them to serve Wyoming and beyond. We invite you to consider giving to the DOSW through our general fund, scholarship funds, and student funds.
Gifts to the DOSW provide us with the flexibility to support the mission of the Division in diverse ways such as supporting student learning initiatives, offering research support to faculty, developing community outreach initiatives, and supplementing the emergency relief and student success funds.
To give to the Division of Social Work, please visit the UW Foundation Giving Page.
The Kay L. Cox Memorial Scholarship provides scholarship support with preference to non-traditional social work students and/or students with financial need.
This scholarship was established by Mardell Fayer to honor the memory of her late children, Anne Michelle and Robert. While Anne Michelle, Robert, and Mardell did not graduate from the University of Wyoming, their passion for social work and sociology inspired the fund, which has been established to help students who are studying in these fields thrive. This scholarship is awarded to one full-time social work student per academic year with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
The Gordon S. and Charlott Myers Social Work Scholarship provides scholarship support with preference to non-traditional social work students.
The Palmer Memorial Social Work Scholarship provides scholarships to social work majors. Lenore Palmer, who graduated from UW in 1941, worked for the Wyoming Department of Social Services as a caseworker - mostly in Cody, Powell, and Cheyenne. After her passing in 2010, her children wanted to honor her and her husband, who also worked in social work, by establishing this scholarship.
Since 1957, the Paul Stock Foundation has supported many students through scholarships at the University of Wyoming. This scholarship is intended to support DOSW students in pursuing higher education.
The James Wiebler Memorial Fund for Excellence was established in 1996 to accept gifts from friends and colleagues of Dr. James Wiebler, first Director of the Division of Social Work. The purpose of the fund is to promote social work education. You can help keep the legacy of Dr. Wiebler alive by supporting the James Wiebler Memorial Fund for Excellence. Your gifts help us to make a social work education possible for deserving students.
The DOSW is committed to fostering a supportive and enriching academic environment for all students. We offer two funds two empower students to succeed in achieving their academic goals: the student emergency relief fund and the student success fund. You can access information about those funds here.
We welcome your ideas on ways we can best support the mission of the Division of Social Work. Please feel free to contact the Director of the Division of Social Work, Dr. Valerie Thompson-Ebanks at (307) 766-5639.
