BSW Application Information for Fall 2025 Coming Soon

 

Admission Requirements 

 

Individuals who wish to declare Social Work as a major are considered Tracking Majors until they have been admitted into the professional program. In addition to completing University requirements Tracking Majors complete the social work prerequisites in preparation for submitting their application.

Social Work Admitted Major Prerequisites:

• STAT 2050 or 2070 or its equivalency
• General Psychology (PSYC 1000)
• Macro Economics (ECON 1010)
• U.S. Constitution (POLS 1000)
• Sociological Principles (SOC 1000)
• Introduction to Social Work (SOWK 2000)
• Human Biology (PSYC 2080, KIN/ZOO 2040 or its equivalency.  Please note:  General Biology [LIFE 1010] does not meet this requirement)

 

ALL required prerequisites must be completed with a C or better by the end of the semester in which the applicant is applying.

 

Note: If you plan to take these classes somewhere other than the University of Wyoming, you should contact us before beginning the course.

Entering into the Bachelors of Social Work Professional Degree Program:

In order to start the Social Work professional degree course work, students must be accepted into Admitted Major. This requires an application process. Only complete applications submitted by the established deadline will be considered for admission. 

Admission is competitive; submitting an application does not guarantee admission.

The application and other information for Admitted Majors are now available. Carefully review the application requirements prior to submitting.
