Make a Difference With An Adapted Physical Education Endorsement

Physical educators impact the lives of children daily. Our graduates teach their students about wellness, physical activity and self-care — among other important, health-related topics. UW’s adapted physical education endorsement helps our grads do exactly that for a wide range of students.

The endorsement program prepares our graduates for careers as physical educators who work with children with disabilities and varying levels of physical ability.

Adapted Physical Education Program Highlights

Internship Experience

All students complete a student teaching internship during their time at UW. During the internship, students work directly with multiple adapted physical education professionals to get hands-on experience.

Our program utilizes a cohort approach, so students progress through each course with the same group of peers. Cohorts provide a supportive and nurturing environment and help students create meaningful relationships with their peers and faculty.

For the last five years, UW’s PETE program has had a 100% job placement rate. This is because our graduates are highly sought after and typically receive multiple job offers. School administrators commonly reach out to our faculty to announce position openings and get insights on candidates.
