What Is Kinesiology & Health Promotion?

UW teaches K&HP students everything they need in preparation for many careers in healthcare and allied health. With research opportunities in various labs, everyone can be hands-on.

Faculty in the K&HP program are experts in their respective fields and cover many areas of healthcare.

To name a couple, Dr. Boyi Dai researches injury biomechanics and served as an associate editor for Sports Biomechanics. Dr. Danielle Bruns conducts cardiovascular research and focuses on therapies for cardiac disease treatment. Since our K&HP faculty are interested in a wide span of research, students have the opportunity to closely explore unique areas in depth.

Kinesiology and Health Promotion Program Highlights

Smaller Class Sizes

Instead of sitting with 400 other undergraduates in a lecture hall, UW has classes of around 45 students come together to learn the importance of healthcare in a space that fosters community and collaboration.

K&HP students can get hands-on experience in our faculty laboratories studying exercise physiology, public health, biochemistry, biomechanics, motor learning and cardiovascular physiology.

K&HP LABS

There are scholarships available specifically to K&HP students once they’ve enrolled in the program. Other opportunities permit applications from students still attending high school.

Scholarship Opportunities

Students learn about exercise and are encouraged to get active in Exercise is Medicine. There are multiple groups that K&HP students find community in, some more physically active than others.
