About the Audio Technology Certificate
The audio technology certificate gives students hands-on experience and education
that allows them to enter the commercial music workforce with a marketable skill set.
During their time at UW, students learn how to record and manipulate recorded sounds
as well as provide live sound reinforcement for concerts or events.
The audio technology certificate may be pursued on its own or in conjunction with
any university degree program.

Will Flagg leads UW’s audio technology program. Equal parts musician and engineer,
Will combines his years of professional audio experience with a musical ear.
Will owns and operates Prairie Gold Sound in Laramie, WY, offering recording and production
services to local musicians. Will completed a master’s in music from the University
of Wyoming in 2020, where he studied vocal performance under the tutelage of Dr. Katrina
Zook.
His professional audio experience includes serving as an assistant engineer to world-class
producers and engineers on Music Row in Nashville, TN, as well as various live-sound
duties in venues and at festivals throughout Wyoming.

"The audio certificate program is a great way to explore, learn and become efficient with different tools needed for live sound, recording and individual purposes in a modern context. Personally, tasks and assignments for the certificate are for the benefit of the individual and happen to be flexible enough to the point where I have plenty of time to pursue my own interests."
