Make a difference in the lives of young learners with a minor in early childhood education! Our students learn how to educate and interact with young children at a variety of developmental stages.

Learn to combine teaching techniques and neuroscience to connect with children from birth to age 8. We additionally prioritize hands-on experiences, giving students the opportunity to experience what it’s like to work in preschools, private childcare, infant classrooms and more!

Early childhood education minors qualify for the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board Endorsement for early childhood education.

About the Early Childhood Education Minor

Young children’s brains develop at a remarkable pace. Learn to help them meet developmental milestones as they grow with this minor.

 

As an early childhood education minor, you’ll take 22 credit hours of courses. Course topics include child development, learning environments, child psychology, language acquisition and more. This minor is designed for those pursuing an education, human development or related undergraduate degree.

 

Upon completion, students qualify for the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board Endorsement for early childhood education.

 

Students must be pursuing an undergraduate degree at the University of Wyoming to declare a minor in early childhood education. This minor is designed for those receiving an education, human development or related degree.

Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board Endorsement

This minor qualifies students to receive the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board endorsement for early childhood education. This endorsement is a great way to gain specialized skills and showcase your additional education on your resume.

 

Prepare to learn from our dedicated early childhood education faculty! Dr. Marisa Macy was recently named the John P. Ellbogen Professor of Early Childhood Education. Dr. Nikki Baldwin is an accomplished educator. Outside of her lectures, Dr. Baldwin runs a successful podcast, literary conference and Kindergarten summit to support other early childhood educators. Amy Encinger also brings valuable expertise to the team, further enriching the program with her experience and dedication.

Through established agreements, we ensure a seamless transition for students continuing their education with us. Our dedicated Student Success services provide personalized advising tailored to each transfer student’s goals, helping them stay on track and thrive in their academic journey.
