Prepare for law school with an interdisciplinary pre-law minor

The interdisciplinary pre-law minor at UW gives students the unique opportunity to explore their interests and take courses across disciplines. 
The result? Well-rounded graduates who excel in public speaking, analytical reasoning, and critical thinking.

UW’s pre-law courses promote honest and responsible values in the legal system and even introduce students to legal systems in other nations.

About the Interdisciplinary Pre-Law Minor

Students pursuing a pre-law degree have the opportunity to take unique courses in many different subjects. So they graduate having learned about topics that interest them, legal career options and important legal processes.

The pre-law minor program requires 18 credit hours. 12 of which must be 3000 or 4000 level courses. Additionally, 12 of the 18 hours must be outside the student’s primary major. 

All coursework must be completed with a grade of C or better to be counted toward the minor.

What can you do with an interdisciplinary pre-law minor?

While most of UW’s interdisciplinary pre-law students go to law school and become lawyers, there are many things you can do with a pre-law minor.

The interdisciplinary nature of the program means that you complete communication, history and creative courses — in addition to those relating to a legal career. So whether you pursue a career in law, business, academia or another field — you’re gaining valuable skills and education.

Interdisciplinary Pre-Law Program Highlights

Pre-law students use their time at UW to hone their writing and public speaking abilities and also refine critical thinking and analytical reasoning skills. 

Students have the opportunity to customize their own programming and learn the skills they need for their chosen career path. All while learning about civil and criminal law, law careers and important legal processes.
