Transform Your Future with Petroleum Engineering

The work that our faculty and students are conducting in UW's labs and research groups is changing the future
of petroleum exploration and development.

With deep expertise in several areas of petroleum engineering, UW researchers and their graduate students are developing and contributing to technologies that are rendering the impossible possible.

About the Petroleum Engineering Ph.D. at UW

In this petroleum engineering program, you will have one-on-one access to faculty who are conducting groundbreaking research in areas like enhanced oil recovery and flow through porous media, while also exploring the full range of interdisciplinary collaboration with related sciences on campus and throughout the industry. Grounded in petroleum engineering and informed by expertise in mathematics, geology, engineering and the physical sciences, our program is flexible and customizable.

Because the energy industry drives Wyoming's economy, UW is the beneficiary of governmental and industry grants that have created a repository of petroleum research facilities that are unrivaled anywhere in the world. In this rich environment, you will develop intellectually and professionally, prepared to work at the highest levels of industry and academia.
