Experienced Faculty

The nature of any art requires years of dedicated, real-world practice before reaching a level of mastery. The Department of Theatre and Dance is fortunate to have numerous faculty members with decades of experience in performance, education and various other roles. For example, one notable faculty member is Cat Kamrath, assistant professor of dance. Cat is a Certified Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analyst. Her current research pairs this somatic field with values-based teaching, investigating how shifting the power dynamics in a classroom allows for more profound student experiences.

Networking & Student Groups

The relationships you build as an artist are as crucial as the skills you gain. Your network will propel you forward throughout your career and introduce you to inspiring people. The Department of Theatre and Dance provides you with an opportunity to begin your journey in student-led organizations such as the Associated Students of the Performing Arts. This registered student organization produces cabarets and student-led productions. In addition, they fundraise for student projects and travel to conferences. Get a head start on building your network with the opportunities we provide.

The Bachelor of Arts in Dance from the University of Wyoming provides students with the opportunities to explore their dance future in an individual way. In this program dancers experience one on one faculty guidance, excellent technical training, academic dance classes that expand views of the field, and a variety of out-of-department courses. This degree allows students the responsibility to control their education to best support them in any profession. Thanks to the educational freedom and support I received from the faculty, I was able to obtain a unique degree that continues to assist me, and my interests, as I transition from undergraduate studies to my master's degree.
