About the Theatre Design and Technology Minor
This minor offers an exciting blend of technical and creative skills to students majoring
in the Theatre and Dance department. Over the course of the minor, students work on UW productions and learn how to run lighting, costume and sound design for live shows.
The theatre design and technology minor is highly customizable, allowing students
to select the courses they’re most interested in from a long list of approved electives.
Course topics include stage management, scene design, costume construction and more.

You must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in the Department of Theatre and Dance to declare this minor.
Our theatre and dance department is a tight-knit community in which students receive personalized guidance and mentorship from experienced faculty. All of our faculty members are highly experienced individuals with professional backgrounds in production and design.

Outside of class and UW productions, students are encouraged to get involved in local theatre and on-campus organizations. Absolutely! Our design, technology and management students are a critical part of the department’s live theatre season. You’ll get hands-on experience in set design, scene lighting and stage management for a multitude of exceptional productions.
