The Wyoming WWAMI medical education program provides an array of clinical experiences in rural and community settings, designed to train future physicians for Wyoming’s unique healthcare needs. Highlighted programs include RUOP (Rural/Underserved Opportunities Program), WRITE (WWAMI Rural Integrated Training Experience), TRUST (Targeted Rural Underserved Track), and the Wyoming LIC (Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship) Program. Our Signature Clinical Programs

  • RUOP (Rural/Underserved Opportunities Program): Offers early rural clinical exposure through a four-week elective between the first and second years. Students gain firsthand experience in Wyoming’s rural clinics, building awareness of local healthcare needs and rural practice realities.
  • TRUST (Targeted Rural Underserved Track): A comprehensive, longitudinal program matching students with underserved Wyoming communities, embedding clinical education with community engagement over multiple years, and tailoring training for rural primary care.
  • WRITE (WWAMI Rural Integrated Training Experience): A longitudinal integrated clerkship lasting 16-20 weeks in Wyoming communities that fosters continuity of care and deep clinical learning across multiple disciplines while strengthening ongoing community relationships.
  • Wyoming LIC (Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship) Program: Allows selected third-year students to complete the majority of core clerkships in Wyoming’s rural hospitals and clinics, maximizing continuity, clinical depth, and connection to Wyoming healthcare systems.
