TRUST: Commitment to Rural Practice
TRUST is a comprehensive, longitudinal curriculum that links selected students with specific rural or underserved Wyoming communities from early in their medical education. TRUST integrates core rotations, RUOP, WRITE, and extracurricular experiences focused on rural and underserved care. Through tailored mentorship, community involvement, and clinical training, TRUST nurtures students’ interest in primary care and rural medicine, guiding them toward careers meeting Wyoming’s workforce needs.
WRITE: Longitudinal Rural Training
The WRITE program is a longitudinal integrated clerkship spanning 16 to 20 weeks in a Wyoming rural community. Third-year students provide continuity care while completing clinical requirements in multiple disciplines such as family medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, and internal medicine. This immersive experience allows deep community engagement, strengthens clinical skills through hands-on learning, and fosters strong mentor relationships with rural healthcare teams.
