SciComm student publishes op-ed in Scientific American. PhD candidate Sam Case, a student in the Tarwater Lab, Department of Zoology & Physiology, and the Program in Ecology & Evolution (PiEE), recently published an op-ed he developed in the spring 2021 course Science of Science Communication. Case's op-ed explores a complex aspect of his research on birds invasive to Hawai'i: can invasive species replace extinct native birds' seed distribution functions and help native plants persist? SciComm student publishes children's book. PhD candidate Michelle Mason, a student in the Department of Astronomy and Physics, recently published a children's book now available in print and ebook formats. Phoebe the Photon Explores the Universe introduces young readers to astronomy fundamentals.
