Areas of expertise:

Dr. Novak's main research areas are rehabilitation engineering and general human-machine interaction. They are broadly interested in how various machines can obtain information about humans' performance, intentions and emotional states, and how the machines can act on this information to improve human health and general wellbeing. To achieve this goal, Dr. Novak makes use of expertise in sensors, pattern recognition, virtual reality, and robotics; furthermore, they regularly collaborate with colleagues in kinesiology, psychology, and other fields. The main application areas of their research include motor and cognitive rehabilitation, affective computing, and wearable robotics.
