Eligibility Requirements:

Applicant must attend the University of Wyoming as a full-time student (12 or more credit hours).  Application must be a declared minor in African American & Diaspora Studies (AADS).  Proof of minor declaration must be submitted with the completed application materials.

Selection Criteria:

Applicants must be declared minor in AADS, return to the university the following year, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, provide evidence of participation in extracurricular activities, provide three academic references,  one letter of recommendation and submit a 500-700 word essay on topics including but not limited to African American history, the African Diaspora, social justice, multicultural issues, etc.

Amount of Awards:

AADS Director at his/her discretion will appoint an AADS Scholarship Committee which will award (1) scholarship in the spring semester at a minimum amount of $250.00 or higher.  The varying amount of the scholarship is dependent upon availability of funds.

It is the applicant's responsibility to see that the application and all other required materials are complete and submitted to the AADS Scholarship Committee by the deadline.  Incomplete applications will not be given consideration.  The application, transcripts, three letters of recommendation, and the essay should be sent to:
