Course Work Requirements

Undergraduate students majoring in the College of Business will take a wide range of courses during their studies at the University of Wyoming.
The planned coursework is designed to give each student a thorough educational experience-from the broad strokes to the fine points. Our goal: well-rounded students with high-level expertise in their chosen field. Main campus students are limited to four online business courses.

Course requirements for the following Undergraduate Majors:
Accounting
Business Economics
Economics (Non-Business)
Concurrent Economics
Finance
Management (Concentration Descriptions)
Marketing (Concentration Descriptions)
Undecided Major

University Studies courses fulfill university requirements for such areas as science, quantitative reasoning, writing, and cultural context.  All students at UW must complete the University Studies Program (USP) to ensure they are well-grounded scholars.

Advanced Business Standing is a requirement all majors in the College of Business must complete before beginning the majority of upper-division course work.  Advanced Business Standing (ABS) constitutes the basic skills all business majors will need before beginning advanced major courses.

Math Placement  All students entering the College of Business will be required to take mathematics courses as part of their college requirements. It is necessary to determine the math skill level in order to place the student into the appropriate level math course to ensure their academic success. To accomplish this we utilize a variety of tools both before the student arrives on campus such as ACT, SAT or GRE scores, eligible transfer credits from other colleges, universities or AP programs and once the student arrives using our own online placement exam or one of the proctored exams such as Accuplacer or Compass.

College of Business Student Advising Handbook provides detailed information about our office, university studies program (USP) and the advanced business standing (ABS) requirement.
